A landmark of African American enterprise and resilience is set for revival as restoration begins on the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Birmingham’s Civil Rights District. Designed by Robert Robinson Taylor, the first Black architect in the United States, the Renaissance Revival building was a commercial and cultural anchor for Black professionals during the Jim Crow era.
