BDP takes legal action against Kingspan over cladding dispute

Architectural firm BDP is suing Kingspan, alleging the insulation giant “acted dishonestly” in marketing its K15 product—now linked to a costly cladding remediation at a Lancashire development. BDP is seeking damages and indemnity for any liability to contractor Laing O’Rourke, which has already lodged a £1.8m claim over the non-compliant materials used at The Rock.

The case draws on findings from the Grenfell Inquiry, which accused Kingspan of marketing K15 for high-rise buildings using misleading certification claims. BDP argues that Kingspan’s conduct—described in the inquiry as “persistent dishonesty”—left them exposed to legal and financial risk under a shifting post-Grenfell regulatory framework.
