US-based home building company Clayton Homes has officially opened a manufacturing facility in Conway, Arkansas, marking its first site opening since 2016, according to KATV.
The Tennessee-headquartered firm now operates 41 building facilities across the United States.
The grand opening took place on 5 March, where Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, along with various local and state government officials, joined company executives to celebrate the development. The facility brings over 250 job opportunities to the region and addresses the nationwide housing shortage whilst creating economic opportunities in Arkansas.
Clint O'Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, said: "Clayton's new home building facility is a welcome addition to Conway, that is creating hundreds of new jobs for Arkansans. With the grand opening, Clayton takes an important step in addressing the nationwide housing shortage as well as creating new economic opportunities in Arkansas. Congratulations to Clayton and the community of Conway on this milestone that will bring success for many years to come."
Clayton will support the facility with a $42 million (€35.28 million) investment to upgrade a 220,000-square-foot facility, with expectations to construct 3,000 homes annually. The development represents significant manufacturing capacity expansion for the company's residential construction operations.
Colt Davis, president of Clayton Manufacturing, said: "The Conway home building facility represents our vision to develop housing innovations that improve lives and build a better tomorrow. The thousands of homes built here each year will help bring attainable homeownership within reach for families across the region. We are incredibly grateful for the people of Conway welcoming us and for local and state leaders supporting the development of our newest home building facility."
Governor Sanders said the facility ensures new Arkansas residents have both affordable housing and employment opportunities.
