Global testing, inspection, and certification firm SOCOTEC has launched a new Dublin office to expand technical consultancy and engineering services across Ireland. The move follows its acquisition of Lloyds Datum Group and strengthens operational capacity and service delivery.

SOCOTEC’s Dublin office complements its existing Letterkenny engineering facility, enabling the firm to deliver wider fire and structural engineering services to clients across Ireland.

The expansion is part of SOCOTEC’s strategic growth plan to provide integrated technical consultancy, building on its expertise in fire safety, access and use consultancy, certification, audits, and risk assessment services.

Wayne Somanna, associate director for Fire Engineering, will head the Dublin office. He said: “Our business unit is focusing on strategic, specific key targets rather than mass expansion and while this Dublin office is primarily for engineering use, it’s a good indication of what SOCOTEC plans to do when it comes to further expansion into the country. We’re not only focusing on engineering but offering holistic technical consultancy services.”

SOCOTEC Ireland has built a substantial client base, including major developments and institutions across multiple sectors. The Dublin office positions the company to provide enhanced service offerings and better support for its growing Irish client base while strengthening operational efficiency and project delivery timelines.

Matthew Marriott, CEO of SOCOTEC UK and Ireland, added: “Our new Dublin office is the next logical step for SOCOTEC, following our acquisition of Lloyds Datum Group, and when combined with our engineering expertise and environmental services, positions us to offer clients a complete range of technical consultancy solutions.”

The expansion aligns with SOCOTEC’s global strategy to leverage expertise across 26 countries, serving over 200,000 clients worldwide.
