Schemmer, a US-based architecture, engineering and construction field services consultancy headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, has expanded its building and architecture operations in the Midwest following the acquisition of Kansas City practice Convergence Design.

The transaction establishes a permanent architectural base in the Kansas City metro area, combining Convergence Design’s local expertise with Schemmer’s multidisciplinary resources across architecture, engineering and construction services. Convergence Design will operate as Convergence Design, A Schemmer Company, with its leadership and team remaining in place.

Founded more than 16 years ago, Convergence Design is known for its work on public assembly projects, delivering buildings designed for large-scale gatherings and civic use. The studio’s experience strengthens Schemmer’s ability to support complex building programmes for both public and private sector clients.

The Kansas City office will continue to be led by David Greusel, FAIA, whose portfolio includes nationally recognised projects such as Daikin Park in Houston and PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Existing staff have joined Schemmer, ensuring continuity for clients while supporting future growth in the regional construction and architecture market.

“We built Convergence around strong client relationships and a hands-on approach to design,” said Greusel. “This partnership allows us to keep that same focus while giving our clients access to a broader team of specialists and resources to support their projects from start to finish.”

Schemmer operates nine offices across six Midwestern states, delivering integrated architecture and engineering services across commercial, civic and infrastructure developments. The Kansas City expansion enhances its regional delivery capacity while aligning with its long-term growth strategy.
