Savills Ireland has strengthened its Northern Ireland and all-island capabilities through the acquisition of The Building Consultancy, an independent building and project consultancy established in 2007, according to Belfast News Letter.

The transaction follows Savills Ireland's purchase of Northern Ireland commercial property advisory firm Osborne King in 2025.

The Dublin-based Building Consultancy brings nearly two decades of experience advising occupiers, funders, commercial property owners, and professional advisers across Ireland. Its team of directors—Alan Baldwin, Hugh Holt, Ken Mulligan, and Karl O'Donovan—have held senior roles in major architectural and surveying practices across Ireland and Europe, supporting clients ranging from financial institutions and pension funds to occupiers of commercial property.

With the addition of The Building Consultancy, Savills now has over 30 specialists delivering building surveying and project consultancy services across the island, making it one of the largest providers of technical advisory services in Ireland. Services now cover technical due diligence, pre-acquisition surveys, development monitoring, project management, cost consultancy, building surveying, and interior architecture and design.

Mark Reynolds, managing director of Savills Ireland, said: "Building and project consultancy has become a core requirement in investment, financing and occupation decisions as clients seek certainty, independent assessment and clear analysis before allocating capital. The Building Consultancy has built a strong reputation in this space. Their expertise strengthens our capability in Northern Ireland and across the island, allowing us to provide clients with broader reporting and increased capacity in response to evolving regulatory, financial and ESG requirements."

Alan Baldwin, managing director of The Building Consultancy, added: "Joining Savills represents a natural progression for our business. Over the past two decades we have focused on delivering clear, independent technical advice that supports investment decisions, development programmes and occupier strategy."
