Jamaican media company RJRGLEANER Communications Group has entered a binding agreement with LP Azar Limited for the sale of its commercial property at 7 North Street, Kingston, Jamaica, together with adjacent lots and parking areas, as part of a broader strategic restructuring of the group's operational footprint.

The Gleaner reported that the transaction is expected to complete within 45 days, subject to customary closing conditions, with staff previously located at the North Street campus to be accommodated at the group's 32 Lyndhurst Road facilities.

The North Street property has long served as the home of The Gleaner newspaper, one of Jamaica's most historically significant media institutions, making the disposal a landmark moment in the group's corporate evolution.

The group said the sale will support the continued consolidation of operations at the Lyndhurst Road campus and allow for a more focused allocation of resources toward its core print media, digital and broadcast businesses.

RJRGLEANER said the transaction forms part of broader strategic restructuring and modernisation initiatives aimed at optimising its operational footprint, improving efficiency across its commercial operations and enhancing long-term shareholder value.

The consolidation of staff and operations onto a single campus at Lyndhurst Road reflects growing recognition among property and facilities managers of the operational and cost benefits of unified, multi-function campuses over dispersed, legacy estate portfolios.

The company, which trades as Radio Jamaica Limited on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, confirmed it will make any further disclosures required under JSE rules and applicable law as the transaction progresses toward completion. No financial terms for the sale were disclosed.
