Irish contractor ML Quinn Building Contractors has been appointed to construct 26 new housing units across two West Sligo sites, according to the Irish Indepedent.

The firm will deliver 18 units at St. Farnan's Drive, Knockaculleen Townland, Dromore West, and a further eight units at Woodland Crescent, Aderavoher Townland, Easkey.

Sligo County Council announced the formal contract signing, with the developments designed by the authority's Housing Capital Section. The schemes form part of the council's continued efforts to expand high-quality housing options across County Sligo.

Construction is scheduled to commence this month with completion and delivery of the units expected in the second quarter of 2027. The contracts were signed at County Hall, Riverside, Sligo, with representatives from ML Quinn attending alongside council officials.

Cathaoirleach Councillor Donal Gilroy said: "These projects represent a significant investment in the future of our communities in Dromore West and Easkey. Providing safe, modern, and affordable homes is one of our highest priorities, and today marks an important step in meeting that commitment. I look forward to seeing these new homes take shape and the positive impact they will have on local families."

The appointment strengthens ML Quinn's position in the Irish social housing sector, with the contractor securing delivery of residential developments in rural communities. The West Sligo schemes add to the firm's portfolio of public-sector housing projects across the region.

The developments address housing demand in Dromore West and Easkey, providing modern residential accommodation designed to meet contemporary living standards whilst supporting local community growth and stability.
