This award is open to any architecture firm working on an affordable or inclusive housing project of any size on the Island of Ireland. Eligible projects may include social housing, cost-rental schemes, co-housing, or mixed-tenure developments that prioritise accessibility, inclusivity, and affordability. The entry should demonstrate excellence in design, fitness for purpose, and a strong commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive communities. This award is not open to fit-out, refurbishment or interior architecture projects. Who can enter: the project architect (individuals, firms, departments), or a project collaborator (if submitted jointly with the architect). If you are not the main project architect, please ensure you have their permission to enter, as we can only accept one submission per project. Entry is by a five-page A4 submission. Judges will be looking for evidence of portfolio-wide design excellence. Entries should include one built project from the last 12 months, and a minimum of one other project which may not yet be built but is fully designed. The judges will also be looking for clear information that is backed up by facts and photos illustrating your points, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below:

  • Background: Summarise your career or organisation’s background.
  • Project: Detail the project with visuals, timeline, size, budget, and key features.
  • Excellence: Show how the design ensures affordability, inclusivity, and long-term quality.
  • Challenges: Outline obstacles faced and how they were overcome.
  • Impact: Highlight benefits for residents, community, and sustainability, and its lasting legacy.
